After
breakfast we headed north to the river Massa
and the estuary near Inezgane. After looking
inland at near the Royal Palace grounds we attempted
to get further down the estuary to the mouth
of the river but were told by the Gendarmerie
that we had to keep our birding to the inland
stretches and access wasn't permitted further
down river.
We were a bit disappointed and had to satisfy
ourselves with watching Greater Flamingos
and Eurasian Spoonbills with many waders
feeding on the banks and pools. We saw Ringed
and Little Ringed Plover, Greenshank with Redshank
and a couple of Little Stints.
A Slender-billed Gull was swimming
near to us and we photographed it before it
too took off, nervous of the the police presence
and a French couple who came together with a
local Moroccan on a rather smelly and grumpy
Camel. Zitting Cisticola's
darted about displaying and Greenfinch and Chaffinch
sang with Serin in the bushes and trees.

Driving
through Agadir, we drove along the coast towards
our target area for Bald-Ibis
at Tamri. On our way there we were surprised
to see hundreds of camper-vans parked in a huge
group at the side of flat piece of headland
about 15kms north of the city, all bearing number
plates from all over northern Europe. On the
way we stopped to watch two Long-legged
Buzzards soar and glide above the mountain
ridge. A large group of Brown-necked
Ravens displayed nearby and landed
on an electricity post and wires.
