We
went through Tamri and the inevitable Police
check-points to the north side of the town and
searched for the rare Bald ibis.
They were nowhere to be seen but Bulbuls chatted
away in the bushes and White Stork
wheeled overhead to land in the valleys. Common
Kestrel hunted along the roadside and
a Black-crowned Tchagra was
seen coming out of the bushes and flew quickly
into the lower branches of another bush.
After returning to the south of Tamri, we found
an area where we watched Spectacled
and Sardinian Warblers with Chiffchaff
for some time in some dense bushes and undergrowth.
Deciding to drive back along the coast and through
Tamri in the late afternoon didn't disappoint,
as we watched a group of 32 Bald-Ibis
wheel across the road and land in some fields.

This was great to see!
Not only so many of these endangered birds together,
but to watch their flight and compare them with
Glossy Ibis in southern Spain. These birds are
truly enigmatic and it was wonderful to watch
them root for grubs, vegetation and insects.
