- Spanish Imperial Eagles now breeding on the edge of the Alcornocales forest
- First breeding Ospreys on the Iberian Peninsular for 60 years
- Unique White-rumped Swift breeding grounds in Europe
- Little Swifts are also frequently sighted
- Rüppell's Vultures regularly turn up during the autumn migration

Climate Changes and Bird Movement
The warmer winters in such areas as Andalucia deter natural annual migration and increase breeding chances. This in turn promotes larger broods from successful pairing as there are larger numbers breeding. If the hazardous migration journey south then north again some months later, are no longer necessary then the life expectancy of a specific species such as for example White Stork is longer, the chances of multiplying are greater and the increase in numbers is inevitable. The whole question of multiple effects of climate change, is a complex one and every living species can be affected in one way or another.
The warmer weather and seasonal changes seem to have encouraged African migrants in particular, to extend their range northwards. Regular sightings of White-rumped and Little Swifts, Rüppell's Vultures, Maribou Storks, Laughing Doves and the huge increase in Great White Egrets on the Iberian peninsular are all indicators of climatic change. The recent breeding Bee-eaters in the UK over the last few years are such an example of northern changes in bird population and movement.
The strait of Gibraltar, by its geographical location will be the place that birders are most likely to see bird rarities, changes in migration patterns and increased volume of traditionally "African" species.
